About the Film

ACCELERATION, a feature-length documentary in development/early production, explores issues and themes around the Singularity– the idea that the acceleration of technology means artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence and make itself increasingly smarter– possibly within our lifetime.

ACCELERATION is a character-driven film, following subjects whose work is intimately entwined with the philosophy and technology associated with the Singularity: a roboticist, a professional futurist, an AI developer and an activist. Their experiences raise questions- what risks or promises does technology offer in the future? Would a superior intelligence be friendly? The internet, iPhone, google, robotic surgery and implanted technology are now commonplace. Will we know or understand the Singularity when it arrives?
